Levantine Cookin'
So it's getting crazy in the Levant again. Harretz's is reporting that up to 10,000 members of the Syrian Republican Guard are defecting, with some units just not showing up altogether. They've been called up three times now.
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that he thinks the Assad regime will fall within the next month.
Will it happen? Who knows. January could be the test.
If Assad falls in Syria, well, we'd just have to wait and see. I, however, can't see it happening unless more of the army defects. They control the heavy weapons, and are the safeguard of the regime.
And in the mean time, looks like the Palestinian Authority is getting ready to go back to their UN bid unless there is progress in the Quartette.
