The News:I've been busy pulling together all the elements that are required for truly self-publishing a book. And I say "truly" because many people go through one of the traditional "self-publishers" who end up taking ownership in your book, thus eliminating the entire point of self-publishing. So I've been busy building a team: 1 editor; 2 copy editors; a fact checker; a book producer; a book designer; a graphic designer who shall make the 12, glossy pages inside the book that has pictures of both the trip--from Israel to Lebanon--and the
Book I portion that is the Surfing the Middle East iPad app. And that leaves out all the accounting; my lawyer; Surfing the Middle East producers & designers; and quotes and bids from PR firms, "brand marketers", and potential book distributors... oh, and the on-going hassling of high profile peeps to give testimonials.
Sound like a lot? It is. But worth it. Controlling the business of one's art has no price. Only then can the art be truly free.
In other news, I have little opinion on the assassination of Osama. Other than: Holy Jesus! He was about 40k outside Islamabad! Or in
Surfing the Middle East terms, about the distance I surfed from northern Israel to southern Lebanon... and that, may I add, is not very far.
More soon guys, hang in there!
